Agriculture Technology & Design Club

Student Club Based Out of The University of Guelph

The Agriculture Technology and Design Club is a student operated team composed of agriculture and engineering students from all disciplines and skill levels, working in tandem with SFOAC clubs and students from other programs. Our focus is on improving agricultural technology, implemented through competitions and projects. We encourage any student with an interest in electronics, programming, mechanical design, animal wellbeing, crop science or anything else related to agriculture to join! There are plenty of opportunities for members to learn new skills and gain hands-on engineering experience.

Real World Experience

ASABE Competition

Through involvement in the club, students gain practical experience in the design of drive train systems, tractor performance, manufacturing processes, analysis of tractive forces, weight transfer and strength of materials. In addition, they also develop skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, fundraising and test & development.

Industry Tours

Our club attends many industry tours and agriculture events. Some industry partners we've toured include Tubeline Manufacturing, Cribit Seeds, and Walinga. Our club is all about exploring the thrilling possibilities of agricultural technology and discovering the exciting intersection of engineering and agriculture!

The clubs main focus is the ASABE International 1/4 Scale Tractor Student Design Competition. This competition is unique among student engineering design contests in that it provides a realistic 360-degree workplace experience. Teams are given a 31-hp Briggs & Stratton engine and a set of Titan tires, and each team gets to design the tractor how they choose.  A panel of industry experts then judge each design in a four day competition in Peoria, Illinois.

Networking

Through our sponsors and advisors, there are many opportunities within the club for networking within the AgTech industry.
